Since the late 1980's the Cosmopolitan recipe has been very popular with restaurant guests, but sales soared after it was featured in the T.V. series "Sex in the City."
Who invented this cocktail recipe is in dispute but many sources credit Florida bartender Cheryl Cook with the original version in 1986.
Her original recipe called for Absolut Citron, a splash of triple sec, a drop of roses lime juice and just enough cranberry juice to make it pink.

Did you know? The origin of the ‘Cosmo’ is unclear but we do know that in 1968 Ocean Spray was looking for more inventive ways to market their cranberry juice to adults. They printed a recipe on the side of every carton of cranberry juice for a drink they called the ‘Harpoon.’ The Harpoon called for an ounce of vodka, an ounce of cranberry and a squeeze of lime - close to the 'Cosmo' recipe.
