Lime Jello Dessert Recipe

This Lime Jello Dessert Recipe uses Oreo cookies for the crust. YUMMY! It is an easy, but delicious lime dessert recipe that I call "Lime Delight."

It is hugely popular with the restaurant guests. Even the younger folks at the restaurant rave about this dessert. It is a favorite restaurant dessert recipe.

Favorite Restaurant Dessert Recipe
Preparation time: 25 minutes (but 1 hour to allow Jello to set up). Serves 12.

Cooking Conversion Table

Ingredients:

  • 1 can evaporated milk (place in freezer 3-4 hours before making this recipe)
  • 1 package (1 pound, 2 ounces) Oreo cookies
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 3 ounce package of lime Jello
  • 3/4 cup hot water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup lime juice
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • Finely ground chocolate or chocolate swirls and whipping cream for garnishing (optional)

    Instructions:

  • Finely crush the cookies in a food processor
  • Mix crush Oreo cookies with the melted butter and press into the bottom of a 9 X 12 inch baking dish and set aside
  • Dissolve the Lime Jello in hot water and chill until partially set
  • Whip partially set Jello until fluffy
  • Stir in sugar and juices
  • Whip the chilled milk until it is fluffy and fold into the Jello mixture
  • Pour into the Oreo cookie crust and freeze
  • Garnish with whipping cream and / or ground chocolate or chocolate swirl (optional) and serve frozen and enjoy!
