Extra Special Holiday Recipes
Christmas Dinner Recipes are never prepared or served at the restaurant on Christmas Day. Christmas is the only day of the year the restaurant is closed. In fact, the restaurant closes early on the day before Christmas so the staff can spend time with their own families. Christmas is a special day for most people and spending it with family makes it special for everyone who does so.
I think Christmas is especially wonderful with small children in the house, each child waiting for Santa's arrival. In fact, this Christmas menu was served on the day Santa arrived at the front door of my house many years ago where all my sisters, their husbands and children were gathered.
The tree was decorated and the family was gathered around the fireplace when there was a "knock, knock, knock" at my door and we all heard a hearty "HO, HO, HO. Merry Christmas!"

I answered the door and who should be in front of me? None other than the jolly, whiskered, old man himself! The children could not believe their eyes! They stood motionless until Santa again laughed his famous laugh and said, "And who in this house has been good all year?" I am certain all six children present raised their hands and shouted, "Me, Me, Me!"
Jolly Old Saint Nicholas pulled a present from his very large bag and read the name of one of the kids. In a flash the present was being opened. Then Santa read another name on a present, then another and another until every child had received a gift.
Santa found a cookie or two or three on a plate and said, "Oh, may I have a cookie, please?"
"Yes, Santa," the children shouted in unison. "All those cookies are just for you!"
"And who might these carrots be for?" he asked.
"Your magical reindeer, of course, Santa."
"Well bless my soul! Ho, Ho, Ho! Merry Christmas, everyone!" And out the door he went.
Then about 5 minutes later ..."Knock, Knock, Knock. Ho, Ho, Ho." Santa was at the door again. He popped his head in the door and said, "Merry Christmas, again everyone. I forget to remind you all to be good again this year so I can visit you next Christmas."
"Of course we will, Santa!" the children exclaimed. And as they did, Santa had just enough time to whisper in my ear, "Please unlock the back door, so I can sneak back in the house. It's cold outside!"
Oh, how we laughed about this ...later; after we all enjoyed this fabulous dinner and all the children were in bed.

Christmas Dinner Recipes
Whiskey Crab Soup is what the adults started with on this special day, while the children were still engrossed with their presents. This soup is served at the restaurant only on very special days during the fall and winter months. It is deliciously rich and truly a "5 Star" soup. You have got to try this soup recipe!
A Christmas Salad - I call it this name because of the green spinach leaves and the fresh red raspberries married with Gorgonzola cheese, walnuts and a delicious raspberry vinaigrette dressing.
Roast Tenderloin of Beef is the "king of beef" and something I like to prepare once or twice a year for family gatherings.
Just make certain you don't use Gracie Allen's recipe (the comedian and wife of comedian George Burns). Her method of cooking roasts of any kind was simple. She'd buy a small roast and a large roast and place both in her oven at the same time. She explained that when the small one was burned, the large roast was done.
This system undoubtedly worked for Gracie but I bet George went absolutely "crazy."
The real cooking directions for the roast tenderloin are actually very easy. Keep your meat thermometer handy.
Twice Baked Potatoes are a favorite part of Christmas dinner recipes at my house. Most children love these, at least they gobbled them up at dinner.
Fresh Asparagus with maybe a squeeze of lemon because with this dinner menu no other sauce or butter is needed.
What's included for deesert with these Christmas dinner recipes? Kahlua Mousse or Gingerbread Boys. The Gingerbread Boys are a family tradition and the cookie cutter has a great deal of history.
Ho, Ho, Ho! Enjoy your Christmas Dinner Recipes and the company of those you share them with! And don't forget to unlock the back door for Santa!
